It is not always easy to remember, but changing or at least cleaning your furnace filter every month during heating season is of great importance. A dirty filter will restrict airflow, resulting in a spike on your heating bill each month. One great idea is to mark a date on your calendar each month so you won’t forget.
An even better idea is to switch to an energy-saving permanent filter, saving the hassle of remembering and the cost of buying new filters each month. The disposable fiberglass filters most of us use trap approximately 25% of debris. An electrostatic filter will trap nearly 90% of all debris, and does a much better job controlling pollen, viruses, mold and bacteria, all things that cause irritation and illness.
